Technology Readiness

Confession: I've had families sign up for Minecraft group... without Minecraft. Or with a kid who'd never played it. Or with tech held together with hope and a prayer. I promise I'm not being dramatic. This section is just a quick reality check to make sure your family has the gear and know-how to actually show up and play, before you're locked into a spot.
Kiddos enrolled in the program will need to have their own copy of Minecraft Bedrock and their own usernames to participate. Bedrock is the basic Minecraft used on devices like tablets, phone, switch, playstation. Java is the basic Minecraft for computers. Kiddos will need a seperate device for Google Meets (Minecraft will close down if you try to use the same system for both). Do you have the technology required for group?(Required)
Does your child know how to play Minecraft?(Required)
Can your child use Google Meet independently: turn themselves on/off mute, raise their hand and use the chat, without a parent doing it for them? In group we use mute to help when things get too chaotic and kids are talking over each other, with a hope to transition to just the raise hand button.(Required)

Neurodivergence

Neurodivergence covers a lot of ground, and every kiddo is different. This section helps me group kids by similar ages, needs, or goals whenever possible, so please answer as honestly as you can. There's no right answer, just the truest picture of your child.
school supports/IEP/504, specialized classroom, homeschooled, general ed, etc.
If I'm able to group kids by need or age, are you able to be flexible between the 2:00pm and 4:30pm group times?

Behavior, Regulation & Fit

Confession, part two: neurodivergence is a massive spectrum, and being neurodivergent doesn't automatically mean this specific group is the right fit. I've seen it all: a dad cursing at his son in the background during a session, a kid who stayed on the Realm after hours and made racially insulting comments toward another child, a kiddo whose whole strategy was blowing up everyone else's builds out of spite. I've had to remove all of those families from the program. That's not the space I'm building, and it's not fair to the other kids who showed up looking for friendship. So before you confirm your spot and pay, I need you to answer honestly. Is there a behavior here that really needs to be worked through somewhere else first? I'm not screening for perfect. I'm screening for fit.
For this group to act as a kid driven environment that they learn in the moment from, kids are asked to participate independently in a room by themselves. Do you feel comfortable allowing your child to do so?(Required)
This group runs like a general education classroom, with no 1:1 support in the room. If your child gets stuck or frustrated, can they ask the group for help or self-soothe on their own, without an adult stepping in?(Required)
For kids who think in more rigid or concrete terms: if a plan changes suddenly or a peer disagrees with them, can your child adjust and stay in the group?(Required)
Or does that kind of shift tend to shut things down for them?
The first few sessions of any new Minecraft group are loud and a little chaotic, with lots of talking, building, and excitement at once. Can your child manage that sensory input and stay on camera and in the group through it?(Required)
In early sessions, builds sometimes get accidentally knocked down and fingers get pointed. It's nearly guaranteed. If another child accused your child of something they didn't do, could your child work through that on the call?(Required)
Has your child ever engaged in bullying behavior toward peers?(Required)
e.g. targeting another child repeatedly, enjoying upsetting others, intentionally destroying someone else's work
The main rule of this program is that we treat others with kindness. If a child intentionally destroys another child's build, makes racist, transphobic, or unkind statements, or curses at another peer, they are placed in Minecraft visitor mode for 10 minutes (this means they can be present in the Realm but cannot build, break, or interact). If a child is placed in visitor mode 3 times in a session, and it happens again in the next session, and again in the session after that (3 consecutive sessions in a row), they'll be asked to leave the program. At that point, this is a behavior that needs to be resolved outside of the group online setting. Are you currently working with your child to reduce any of these kinds of behaviors: cursing, intentionally destroying others' builds, or unkind/racist/transphobic statements toward peers?(Required)

Invoice

Credit Card = Tuition + 3% processing fee. Email Victoria if you'd like an ACH invoice or to be added to the waitlist for a single adventure at vprisco@victoriaprisco.net
Price: $2,575.00

Thank you for taking the time to fill this out

If this feels like a good fit, I'll send over a consent and invoice. Groups are filled on a first come, first served basis. Minecraft doesn't give flexibility on the amount of kids I can put in a Realm, so there's a hard cap of 10 kids per timeslot. You'll also receive an intake form that I'll ask you to complete before the program starts. This information helps me coach your child during sessions.
